Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to undertake engine reclaiming procedures
- Nature and scope of work requirements are identified and confirmed
- OH&S requirements, including individual State/Territory regulatory requirements and personal protection needs are observed throughout the work
- Procedures and information such as workshop manuals and specifications, and tooling, are sourced
- Method options are analysed and those most appropriate to the circumstances are selected and prepared
- Technical and/or calibration requirements for heat treatment are sourced and support equipment is identified and prepared
- Heat treat engine components for reclaim
- Correct information is accessed and interpreted from manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Heat treating methods are used to repair damaged/ undersized component(s)
- Heat treat is completed without causing damage to any component or system
- Heat treating process is completed within industry guidelines
- Heat treating operations are carried out according to OH&S legislation, legislation and enterprise procedures/ policies
- Straighten engine components for reclaim
- Correct information is accessed and interpreted from manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Straightening equipment is accessed
- Components are mounted and clamped in straightening equipment
- Straightening methods are applied to engine components
- Engine components are straightened using acceptable reconditioning methods, to comply with Australian Standards
- Work is completed without causing damage to any component or system
- Components are measured against manufacturer/ component supplier specifications and allowable tolerances
- Straightening operations are carried out according to industry regulations/guidelines, OH&S legislation, legislation and enterprise procedures/policies
- Finish components in readiness for assembly
